The replacement of Petit-Bois chairlift

Once upon a time, there was the Petit-Bois chairlift...

There are ski lifts that we take automatically and often forget their names (no hard feelings 😉). And then there are those we get attached to, and the Petit-Bois chairlift is one of them.

Opened on 25 December 1980, the Petit-Bois chairlift sets off from a place called Le Vaz, at an altitude of 1,500 metres, and takes you to the resort via Les Eucherts.

Petit-Bois will always be Petit-Bois

It's hard to pinpoint the one reason that makes this ski lift so special to everyone.

➡️ Is it because of its intimate atmosphere?
➡️ Is it because it's the very first chairlift of La Rosière?
➡️ Is it because of his over 45 years old for good and loyal service?
➡️ Is it because it offers the possibility of a long ski run ?
➡️ Is it because of its seats in a semicircle so unusual?
➡️ Is it because of its runs through the hamlet of Les Eucherts? Or because of its incredible setting ?

Or is it for all of these reasons at once?

This chairlift may be getting a makeover this winter, but one thing is certain: You'll continue to love him.

A project that reflects the spirit of La Rosière Domaine Outdoor

1. Give things a second life

As part of an approach that is both solidarity-based and circular, some of the seats from the old Petit-Bois chairlift will be given a new lease on life. This summer, they were put up for auction, with the proceeds going to Mountain Riders.

A way to bring a piece of Petit-Bois’s history to life in a different way, while supporting a cause that’s close to our hearts.

2. Choosing our partners: a commitment

For this replacement, La Rosière Domaine Outdoor is relying on GMM, a French company. This choice reflects our commitment to working with local, dedicated partners.

And as is often the case in La Rosière, history gives a charming nod to the present: GMM was the company that had built the Petit-Bois chairlift 46 years ago.

3. Make sure to preserve our playground

The replacement of Petit-Bois chairlift takes into account the issues relating to the site’s biodiversity. At every stage of the project, particular care is taken to protect the natural habitats in the vicinity. Plant species such as lycopods, as well as wetlands – which are particularly conducive to biodiversity – are the subject of specific attention. Protective measures are being put in place during the project, including the marking of sensitive areas and the installation of amphibian barriers where necessary.

The new ski lift follows the route of the existing chairlift, which helps to minimise the project’s footprint and avoid, as far as possible, encroachment on new natural areas. This approach therefore aims to reduce disruption caused by the works and to preserve the sensitive habitats identified around the project.
