On the front lines of climate change and the upheavals affecting mountain regions, Domaines Skiables de France (DSF), has created an environmental roadmap for the coming years for the entire profession. La Rosière Domaine Outdoor, The operator of the La Rosière Ski Area is fully committed to this initiative and is committed to continuing its efforts according to the established roadmap.

La Rosière Domaine Outdoor would like to minimize the environmental impact of its operations. This includes initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint and preserve its land and biodiversity. Its commitment extends beyond the environment. Supportive actions are being taken through donations and corporate sponsorship, making a positive contribution to social, cultural, and educational projects, whether local or not.

The 16 DSF eco-commitments

In collaboration with Domaines Skiables de France (DSF), La Rosière Domaine Outdoor has adopted 16 environmental commitments to protect the mountains, with concrete measures covering climate and greenhouse gas emissions, water management, biodiversity protection, landscape conservation and waste management.

One of the targets set by DSF is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2037, with zero CO₂ emissions.

In February 2024, the Court of Auditors published a report assessing the vulnerability of mountain resorts to climate change. This report assigns La Rosière a score that does not reflect the reality of our resort, based on a questionable methodology and erroneous data. An energy efficiency charter

La Rosière Domaine Outdoor has drawn up its own charter of commitment to set out all the measures implemented across all the company’s emission sources.

Responsible initiatives

A range of eco-friendly initiatives have been introduced in La Rosière to reconcile tourism with sustainable development, such as:

- a 15 per cent discount for visitors arriving by train

- a €5 discount on ski passes purchased from the resort’s lowest point (Les Ecudets)

- waste awareness campaigns in partnership with Mountain Riders

- etc.

Pastoral issues in La Rosière

La Rosière Domaine Outdoor works with local farmers to integrate pastoral practices into land management, thereby helping to preserve the countryside, biodiversity and traditions.

Artificial snow

La Rosière Domaine Outdoor uses advanced technologies that enable more efficient and resource-friendly production. This is the ‘fair snow’ strategy.

The Environmental Observatory

The Environmental Observatory continuously monitors the impact of the ski area’s activities on wildlife, flora and sensitive habitats. As part of this observatory, La Rosière Domaine Outdoor has implemented a number of protective measures
