Mont-Valaisan Area

Explore a high-mountain area at an elevation of 2,800 meters

Open since December 2018, two chairlifts (Moulins and Mont-Valaisan) provide access to five tracks (red and black): that's the Mont-Valaisan area. The highest point in the La Rosière Ski Area at 2,800 meters above sea level, it caters to the most demanding skiers and offers a technical, challenging ski experience. At the top of the Mont-Valaisan chairlift, enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and the Vanoise glaciers.

Up there, snow is guaranteed from December through the end of April. The most daring skiers can head there to experience the thrill of freeride skiing—safely—on an ungroomed black run...

As a reminder, a DVA Check station is available at the top of the Mont-Valaisan chairlift to check your safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel) before you head out onto the off-piste slopes, whether on the north face or the southwest face!

Freeride in the Valais Alps

This new black run, facing southwest, is located at the top of the Les Moulins detachable chairlift, at an elevation of 2,400 meters, and features a 425-meter vertical drop. Although it is not groomed, it is always marked and secured; this area is also the steepest run in the resort, with a gradient of up to 74% !!

From the top of the Mont-Valaisan chairlift, take the red run “2800,” then the upper section of “Combe,” before reaching the “Freeride Mont-Valaisan.”

The valley to the right of the Mont-Valaisan chairlift, meanwhile, is once again becoming, an unsecured off-piste area.

REMINDER: Off-piste skiing, while exhilarating, involves significant risks. For your safety, it is essential to be properly equipped (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel); you may also want to be accompanied by a professional.
